We’ve experienced a lot of growth in the past 3 years, as a company, and as a team as well. Our agency is 5 times bigger than it was in the very beginning. But we’re not really into counting the days. We’re a lot more into making the days count, for ourselves and our partners as well.

There was no way that we could let the day of our 3 year anniversary just fly by. We wanted to make it special. Wanna see how it turned out?

First, let’s take a trip down memory lane.

It all started three years ago, on a sunny, but cold November day in 2013. The four founding partners, back then freelance mobile developers, were heading to a restaurant to enjoy a well-deserved dinner together. Stuck in traffic as they were, they noticed the car in front of them, which was a Renault Latitude. Not that the car itself was special in any way. But the name Latitude somehow resembled the slogan they had in mind for the mobile development agency that was in the making. By the time they reached the restaurant, the four musketeers had chosen the name for the mobile agency they planned to open together: Tapptitude, vowing to always build “mobile apps with attitude”. The incorporation papers were signed the next day.

And here we are, three years and numerous projects later:

We played games, went on a trip and played some more games, ate pizza, drank wine and overall had a great time together. That was our 3 year anniversary in a nutshell. But let’s take a closer look.

Choosing the location for this anniversary was really easy. The trips we’ve been on together were always a lot of fun. But we’re almost done renovating another new floor in our building, which we think is turning out great. So we decided to bring the party home for once.

We wanted to put every minute we had together to good use, so we asked the guys at Azimut to help us out a bit. They came up with a plan called Happy Office Day, meant to combine team-building activities with us celebrating new beginnings: a new office space, a new year together and all the new opportunities waiting around the corner.

We started things off with a drawing game. As childish as this might sound, it was the perfect way to start the day. We partnered up in teams of two. Each team member had to share something about themselves, something that the partner could draw and that everyone in the room could recognize them by. We weren’t allowed to use letters so it really was just our imagination we could rely upon. Besides having a good laugh about our artistic skills, it was interesting to see how well we knew each other, and how we perceive one another. As a bonus, we got to keep our artworks. Truth be told, we still ended up taking a trip: a small one, to a place near the Cluj-Napoca Airport, where we played laser tag. It was a first for the most of us, so you can only imagine the excitement. We suited up and we each got ourselves a laser gun – and it was on!

You’d think that after an hour of running around and “shooting” each other, we’d be ready to call it a night. Well, we weren’t. We came back to our office and kept the party going ’till 4 in the morning. We told stories, old and new, and fondly remembered the times that glued us together into the team we are today.

The activities we had throughout this day had us smiling the entire time. But we could not have crossed the imaginary stream of boiling lava, had we not based every decision within the game on the same values we base our work every single day.

Teamwork

Being a full-stack mobile development agency, every project we work on involves a number of people. Each and every one of these people have their own line of work: we’re developers, designers, strategists, and marketers. And we all bring a certain bit of value into the projects we work on. We understood from the very beginning that working well together is a must, in order to offer our partners high-quality products.

Focus

tapptitude started out as a mobile development agency and we kept that focus all the way these three years, which is one of the reasons we’ve managed to grow so fast. The solutions we’ve added to our list of services in the meantime are meant to provide holistic solutions for a proper mobile product. Having people from various domains involved in the development of a mobile app means that various creative perspectives will go into designing and building said app in the best way possible.

Personal involvement

We don’t have clients. We have partners we work closely with, in order to attend to their needs and help us grow together. Part of the reason why we set up the service of Product Development Workshop was to really get to know our clients and their businesses. We listen to their stories, do our best to understand exactly what it is that they need, and come up with customized plans that fit their businesses to a T.

We’ve come a long way in the 3 years that Tapptitude has been on the map of native mobile development. We look forward to our next celebration and the memories we have yet to make. Until then, we’ll be coding and growing some more.
