Project overview
Artists face challenges when using professional, heavy lighting on the go due to the impracticality of cumbersome equipment, restricting their creative flexibility and spontaneity in dynamic environments. Additionally, the reliance on power sources for these setups limits artists from exploring remote or unconventional locations, highlighting the need for more portable and versatile lighting solutions.
Customers on the go prioritize compact and portable lighting solutions that offer convenience and flexibility, as cumbersome equipment hinders their ability to capture spontaneous moments in diverse environments. The demand for battery-powered or easily accessible power sources reflects a preference for hassle-free setups, allowing customers to prioritize mobility and adaptability in their content creation endeavors.

The Challenge
No light too bright, no piece of code too complex.
The primary challenge revolved around seamlessly integrating hardware components and features via Bluetooth technology while ensuring top-notch app features with ease of use. The firmware underwent multiple changes along the way and so did we - whatever it took to cater to several user preferences and requirements. Creatives are working in different industries and we had to make sure that any experience we create adapts for either static or on-the-go type of professionals by designing an intuitive and human-centric solution. We worked back to back with industry-leading designers, electrical engineers and LED manufacturers in the hopes of creating a robust iOS and Android app that allows creatives to power up any lights, regardless of the setup, in a few taps. Navigating this intersection of firmware intricacies, integration challenges, and user diversity proved to be a stimulating journey for our Tapptitude crew in creating a robust and versatile solution for powering up the Slites.
Here's what we did
We developed a slick and intuitive mobile app that takes allows for easy control of several lights, remotely, allowing for less stressful, more productive shootings.
Features
Born in light, thriving in the dark.
With the Slite app, we allow our users to set up the lights over Bluetooth in a few taps to then personalize the creative experience of their endeavors. Whether we're talking sparkly effects or simply presets for an outdoor shooting, the goal was to minimize the time spent to setup the scenes and allow for more time spent what they love: creating.
Custom Effects
The app employs effects to light up and transform spaces, setting the stage for inspired moments.
16 Million Colors
We enabled fine tuning of colors, from hue/saturation adjustments to green-magenta shift.
Instant Color Picker
Users can point at any color or spot in a picture and automatically set the desired color tone.
The brightest whites
At 96+ CRI / 99+ TCLI, the app can send instructions that produce highly accurate white lights.
We worked with the founders to define, design and build the entire platform and its components
"Tapptitude has delivered a robust and almost flawless app that has appealed to the client's end customers. Tapptitude has been highly responsive, punctual, diligent, and extremely cooperative. Their value for the price and extensive knowledge in lighting, color theory, and electronics are praisable."

Designing for an excellent user experience
We went for slick and simple. Easy on the eye. We allowed the colors of the Slites to speak for the users, harnessing the true tone of the lights in multiple areas of the product, syncing the tones at all times.

Revolutionizing studio lighting with Industry standards finesse - the app, wrapped in a sophisticated dark mode aesthetic, was meticulously fine-tuned on every detail through rigorous usability and testing processes to reach what we're today proud of. Let actions speak for themselves: the Slite team won the “Best in Class” at the Good Design Awards 2022. We're proud to have contributed to the experience.
