The Challenge


Bridging the gap in food delivery: Overcoming convenience and communication barriers

Despite the advantages of direct delivery – faster, more cost-effective, and better product handling – many still opt for platforms due to the convenience of aggregated options. Our first challenge was addressing this preference for a single app over separate ones for each restaurant. Secondly, restaurants themselves inadequately communicated their delivery services, resulting in limited customer awareness about the benefits of ordering directly.

Here's what we did

We developed a cutting-edge platform to capitalize on this situation, combining the best aspects of both delivery methods while emphasizing curation. Initially, we identified key user and market aspects, translating them into a product with lean yet indispensable functionalities. Our role extended to defining top-level features and guiding the platform's strategic direction.

Designing for an excellent user experience

The name "Hifumi," derived from the Japanese phrase "1-2-3," symbolizes simplicity, efficiency, and a commitment to excellence.

Our design ethos mirrored this commitment, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese cherry blossoms. Every facet of the platform, from the intuitive user interface to the meticulously curated restaurant selection, was crafted to provide customers with an exceptional experience.

We went with what made sense - appetizing native technologies that cover market demographics and performs well under race conditions.

We pioneered early on SwiftUI implementation on iOS, mixed with first-in-class Kotlin that not only takes into account proper user experience, but also works well with several courier devices of all brands and manufacturers available within the fleets. Furthermore, we built a tablet friendly back office for the restaurants and admins to manage the brands, inventory, fleet of couriers and track business insights.
