With statistics showing a steady but constant rise in smartphone users around the world, as well as internet usage being smartphone-driven inasmuch as 75%, it’s crystal clear that businesses around the world have to design their strategies with the dynamic, on-the-run smartphone user in mind. Which is exactly what SmartDreamers has done.

SmartDreamers has partnered up with tapptitude to build a mobile recruitment app that places the job hunting process in the user’s pockets. Not only does the app make the entire job searching process more dynamic, but it also levels the playing field.

Users can apply for a job, while companies can propose one to the fitting candidates – all within the app.

The SmartDreamers app is certainly not the first one in Romania to bring job recruitment to the smartphone.

But it’s the first one to make it personal: this job hunting mobile app has a chat feature, enabling the user to have a very natural, direct dialogue with the company’s HR representative.

Basically, it’s less talking to the big scary company, and more establishing a genuine connection to someone that could be your colleague soon enough.

Whether you’re actively looking for a new job or you simply want to make sure that your CV is on the radar of the right companies, the SmartDreamers mobile app is a one-stop shop.

About the SmartDreamers Android app

There are 5 main tabs within the app’s menu: Jobs, Profile, Messages (the app’s chat feature we told you about), Notifications, and Settings.

The user’s Profile is a stripped down version of the user’s CV. With a glance, the company has the most important info on the candidate.

Another great feature of the app is that CVs can be uploaded via Google Drive or Dropbox. The user can even set up an alarm to remind them to do so from a desktop. The Profile tab
also contains a history of the user’s job applications and notifications.

A company’s profile is of great interest as well. Besides having the most important info about the company (description, website, location, and available jobs), it’s where the user can first establish a connection. They can either follow the company – and get notified whenever the company posts a new job, or connect with the company – and submit their CV for the company to make a job offer if and when the suitable position is available.

The SmartDreamers app encourages the user to be active and visible to the right companies, specifically the right people. Recruitment is ultimately about people establishing fruitful connections.

Challenge

When building the app, we strongly focused on the fact that we had to maintain a simple and straightforward flow, while still packing the app with numerous possibilities and information for both sides – the candidate and the recruiter.

Besides holding all the info on both companies and candidates, helping the two engage in a direct conversation straight from within the app was our main focus – thus, our main challenge.

Browsing jobs can be done easily, even without having filled out the user profile. However, doing so brings the user one big step closer to using the app to its full potential. With a complete user profile, the candidate can apply to a job straight from within the job’s description. Easy peasy.

Especially when actively looking for a job, time is of the essence. With this in mind, we decided that push notifications were a must for this mobile app. The user is notified when a company they follow posts a new job, when a company has viewed their CV, as well as when a company extends an interview invitation to the user.

Wanting to make the recruitment app as simple to use as possible, we decided on social media integration as well. It enables the user to quickly set up their profile using Facebook or Gmail, as well as help their friends out by sharing an available job via Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and private messages.

The chat feature is what this job hunting-recruitment app brings new to the table. It’s a plus for both sides involved: users can directly message the HR representative of the chosen company, while the HR representative can just as well start a direct conversation with the candidates that best fit the job.

While taking some of the edge off, the messaging feature is a great way to engage: ask the most pressing questions, get the most important info, and most importantly, establish a real, human connection.

The minimalist, clean look of the app makes it best suitable for a younger target audience. High school or college graduates, as well as people in their mid thirties won’t have any problems navigating within the app.
